Crazy Jump In Ratings

So I've got a league going and I am GM of the Brewers. Off-Season comes around and I decide to execute the option on Adam Lind's contract because it's just one more year and he was easily my best hitter.

Fast forward to near spring training and I'm reorganizing my minor leagues to make sure everyone is in the right spot. Then I notice 26-year old 1B Nick Ramirez's ratings (1-10 scale)...

Contact - 8
Gap Power - 9
HR Power - 9
Eye - 7
Avoid K's - 5

Whaaaaaaat? Guy wasn't even on my radar heading into the season. I can't see his past ratings or potential I think because of my settings and it being a new calendar year.

Anyway, I think maybe it's just my scout, but he rakes it in the spring so I trade Lind and a decent prospect for a reliever and cash, just to make room at first. Here's Ramirez's line through 16 games...

.266/.324/.672, 17 H, 2 2B, 8 HR, 14 RBI, 6 BB, 7 SO in 71 PA

I've never seen anything like this.

keep at least 1 report per seaosn. think it is "general settings." if not, you just have to click a bit to find it, since it's a gui. you'll be able to track them better the more reports you keep.

he looks more than legit from those numbers, so far.

prospect development ends at 27 or 28. there are other ways ratings can change, of course. so, you can get some late bloomers, on occasion.

Know how I can do this (check back for the scouting reports)? I do have it set as keep one report for season.

EDIT: I simmed one game since my original post... 3/4 2 HR!!!

open a player profile, then click scouting (development is there, too).

if your minor leaguers don't show any reports, maybe there is a setting to keep mlb only reports. you'll have to look on that settings page. same with development reports.

Ah, for some reason I was looking only under history. Found the scouting reports. It doesn't go too far back, but here they are...

Last season got cut a bit short due to injury but in 129 games...

.277/.372/.569, 129 H, 23 2B, 37 HR, 88 RBI, 69 BB, 110 SO in 466 AB

Led the majors in home runs.

His start of 2016 is only better...

.409/.500/1.091, 9 H, 5 HR, 10 RBI, 4 BB, 1 SO in 22 AB
