OK, This is Just Wrong

When you really don't want to play for the team that drafted you...

he played soccer, he was probably a terrible baseball player

is that part of storylines. to be honest, i'd turn it off, if it is. i've had sims where 2 or 3 consecutive first round picks retire for football or whatever.

I had my 1st round stud pitcher retire on me a month after signing because he decided he didn't want to live the life of a ballplayer (travelling, etc.). Really? You couldn't have figured that out *BEFORE* you signed the contract?

I was hoping it was the beginning of a neat storyline where my team sued him for his signing bonus, but it never happened.

In MLB, as part of the collective bargaining agreement, a player who is drafted and receives a signing bonus forfeits that signing bonus (and is contractually required to return it) if he quits/retires before the team issues him his release.

At least he stayed for a couple months. I had a IFA guy bail for golf the day after I game him 1.5 million.

I always felt like soccer was merely a sport that young boys could play until they develop the fine motor skills required by baseball.

Hey, they pay good money to their soccer players in Great Britain.

So in OOTP does the money come back? I don't think it does.

The MLS SuperDraft is a thing. But we might need to limit this storyline to 1996 and later since MLS didn't exist yet.

MLS (USA's top league) has a draft and it's all college kids. If you are an American with exceptional talent, you will go play with the European academies, not that joke draft system the MLS tries to force.
