MLB Quickstart: How much difference between rookie leagues?

Hey everyone!

As most of you know, I don't play the MLB Quickstart very often, so dealing with the expanded minor league system is a bit different for me, as I'm not used to having three different rookie league teams.

I'm just wondering how much the leagues vary competition wise, if really any? I just noticed that one of my squads was quite low on players, so I've been evening it out between my three rookie teams and the international complex.

But, if one league has better competition or anything like that, I'd be preferential toward putting my better rookie ball guys there.

Thanks for any input you guys have!

I know there is some difference in schedule size, I'm just wondering if I should worry much about difference in competitive levels? I'm using the Tigers, so I have the GCL, the VSL, and the DSL. The DSL and VSL are longer schedules.

This might not be right, but I always play with the Astros, and they have four teams... Appalachian League, Gulf Coast League, and two Dominican Leagues. I assume the following:

App > GCL > DSL1 > DSL2

I know in my scenario with the Tigers that the only one that has a schedule starting after the draft is the GCL opening on June 22. The DSL opens on May 30, and the VSL on May 18.

I'm going to do it pretty much the same way though... most advanced prospects at GCL, and then others in the other two, unless someone tells me they notice a big difference in development in one of the leagues over the other.

Thanks for the input!

I also tend to put my Caribbean-born players in the DSLs, unless they are big prospects. Then, I put them in the Appalachian League. The GCL is for my American rookies who are not ready for the App. League.

If you change your rating compared to (whatever league) you can see that there is some difference between the Single A leagues and the Rookie Leagues at least in the competition level.

Once, I tried to make them all even, and my DSL teams killed it while my App. League and GCL teams were destroyed.

He is asking about the different rookie leagues. A-ball has different levels, too. You have High-A (California League), A (Midwest League), and Short A. All are better than the rookie leagues.

IRL, pitchers get shelled in the California League, so some pitchers will skip High-A to go straight to AA.

If you play with relative ratings on then you can see the talent level in the league. The AI tends to put the better players in the league with the higher PCM modifiers therefore increasing the talent level in a specific league.

These are the right answers, though there's really no difference between two teams in the same league in the DSL 1/2 teams either irl or in game.
