preventing a meltdown

I'm in my second season with the red sox. In the first I got a nice lead, then in the last two months i blew it, dropping down to fourth place.

This season I got an even better start but after the halfway point i've been dropping more and more games.

Is there anyway to prevent such a meltdown, or is it just bad luck?

Not that I know of. Look at my most recent WS. Went into SD with a nice 2-0 lead and proceeded to get shutout 3 consecutive games. A grand total of 7 hits in 3 games.

By the time 3 innings were gone in game six and I was down 6-1 no comeback was possible. Sigh, stuff happens.

I have a few "tricks of the trade" that I have tried to stem bad momentum:

I normally play out every game on one pitch mode and usually sim an inning at a time until either the 6th inning or my SP has around 70 pitches.

Alot depends on what type of a rut I'm in. If my SP is going bad I might sim the entire game or I might play out each at bat just to change the momentum. I'll do this differently for each starter. As an example, I traded for Matt Harvey and when I started him in my "normal way" his ERA was over 4.00 and he was giving up a ton of HR"S. I decided to play out each start of his one batter at a time and his performance improved. Sort of like my version of not shaving, wearing the same pair of underwear, etc...

If my bats are cold then it's all about lineup tweaks.
