Problem trading
Hi guys, this is my first OOTP on PC and I'm really enjoying it, it's a fantastic game.
The one thing I'm finding difficult is trading. After one year in Japan I was hired as the GM of the Cincinnati Reds who are coming off a 100 loss season and are in rebuild mode. I instantly went to move some of the veterans and senior players in positions we have depth such as Jay Bruce and closer Aroldis Chapman. Why would a poor team need an elite closer? I thought I'd be able to trade them away without much trouble. Sure they're earning a decent amount but Chapman is one of the premier relievers in the league and nobody wanted him. It also seems very difficult to trade like for like. I wanted to bring in Brock Holt from the Red Sox. He's no more than a back-up for them and what did they want in return? Billy Hamilton! I would offer players equal or better star rating than Holt and they wouldn't budge. It's made rebuilding pretty darn difficult. Is there something I'm doing wrong (most probably!)? I have everything on default so I don't think the trading is set to super high difficulty or anything. I appreciate any help. |

Try offering Cueto, Red Sox have no need for an elite closer as they already have one.

Is there a way of checking which teams are looking for help at which positions? |

You can use the team strength settings (at the bottom of the trade window) to get a sense of what people are looking for. I should warn you in advance that trading expensive players is quite tricky, unless of course you throw in some cash on your end.
