Do you ever wonder if your owner is a dimwit?

I read this year's owner goals (playing as GM only) with a laugh. Extend Jake Peavy - umm that same guy who has played in 6 games in a year and a half with us because he's always hurt? The same guy whose scouting summary is "I'll be surprised if he is still pitching in organized baseball a year from now?"

Fine, fine, whatever - he signed a year deal for $1.5 million. Easiest owner goal ever.

Hey, Peavy is a popular player. Maybe he feels the 1.5M you spent on him is enough to get back in jersey sales.

It is true, he's got popularity, but that's all he's got. At least I'm not having to pay through the nose for him.

I am running the Jays and the owner told me to extend Johan Santana.

JOHAN SANTANA.

I traded him instead.

I wonder if they fire you for not listening to them as long as you are winning?

I don't have the game in front of me but I'm playing the, at this point, mid 90s Mariners and the owner goal is for me to do 60k/game in attendance and the Kingdome has room for 59k and change.

I think my owner's a dimwit all the time, but eventually realize it's mostly me who's the dimwit

Have other folks had problems with Owner Goals not being recorded as fulfilled, even after you clearly do fulfill them?

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...thread-42.html
Post #822

Is this a bug? Or is my team owner, honestly and truly, just a dimwit?

EDIT: Does "Target Year" mean the goal has to be fulfilled that year? Or just 'no later than' that year? I assume the latter, in which case I clearly have fulfilled my owner goals but haven't gotten credit. If it means the goals have to be fulfilled in the target year alone -- well, that seems off to me.

I presume that the goal is not checked for completion until the end of the target year. But I agree that we should get credit for it being done.

You get some points towards the owner's mood when he checks in mid-season, but it's only after the season that he truly evaluates all the goals. Yes, some of the goals could be cleared sooner, but I also want to prevent you from signing the extension for a guy, then immediately trading him away. So you've got to have him signed and keep him through the year to get credit.

If a goal is completed early, then it will be removed at the end of season check-in.

My owner wants me to acquire an all-star...but it's 1904, and there is no All-Star game, so that request is...kinda impossible. Dumb owner is dumb.

Owner Frank Duffy: "My dear GM, it is my sincere wish for you to acquire an All Star for our base ball club during this upcoming season."

GM Aloysius McGee: "An 'All Star', you say? Is that some form of horseless carriage?"

Next he will ask you to upgrade the closer position. You respond, "Upgrade, the so-called "relief" pitcher is no more than a tired old warhorse whose arm can't take it anymore. One can't upgrade!"

Another in the long line of half baked features that look good in the announcement e-mail but never really work or add anything to the game.

Scouting, feeder leagues, AI improvements etc

I have ignored this newest feature completely
