player neither on contract nor free agent

Started fictional league... Found a player in active player list who has no team. Contract status listed as free agent. Action menu has nothing but shortlist player. Check free agent list and he's not there. So I can't trade for him or offer him a contract. I can trade for others or offer contracts to players in the free agent list.

Any ideas?

I would go into comissioner mode and then edit the player and assign him to a team and then back to free agency. Not sure if that would work, but that'd be the first thing I would try.

Once you're in the player editor...On the left side there are sections. The first is Basic Information (Name, DOB, H & W, and so on) and the 2nd is Team Information (what you want). The first dropdown box is the league you want the player to go to and the second is the team. To set them as a free agent, have the 1st box as your parent league (MLB for example) and the 2nd box as None (Free Agent).

I think your instructions are referring to OOTP 16 and the issues are the mobile app MLB 2015.
