Error in 3-way tiebreaker for 1 Wild Card slot.

I had a few 3-way tiebreakers (and even 4-way) in 16.1.5 but they were all handled correctly. But in 16.2.9, I just had my first 3-way tiebreak since 16.2.9, but it was handled wrongly.

Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners all tied with 85-77 for the Second Wild Card slot. For those that are interested, the 3 division winners are Toronto Blue Jays (84-78), Cleveland Indians (87-75) and Oakland Athletics (91-71) and the First Wild Card Club is Chicago White Sox with 86-76.

As for the tiebreakers, they just had Detroit Tigers play Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers won this game. Then the game put Detroit Tigers through and then the playoffs has started. By right, the winner of this game (i.e. Detroit Tigers is supposed to host Los Angeles Angels and the winner will then be the Second Wild Card Club.)

Yeah, unfortunately, sometimes OOTP misfires when it comes to three clubs tied for a single playoff spot. It will do it right sometimes and other times it will exclude one of the tied clubs. I never could spot any pattern to it.

(Things get more funky when there's a simultaneous tie for a division title and one or more wild card spots. OOTP will usually get it wrong, that is, it won't go by current MLB rules.)

Happened to my online league tonight. 3-way tie for the final wild card and 2 of them got to play each other for the playoff entry while the 3rd didn't get a shot. Seems like it gave best run differential home field advantage and put 2nd best run differential against them. 3rd run differential team is pretty pissed they didn't get a game.

I doubt it's coded to use run differential—that's probably just a coincidence. I think it's either random or it goes by team ID or some other similar thing.

We had a similar situation last night in our league, Three way tie, and it appears the game seeded teams by alphabetical order.
