Question about leagues changing over to ootp5 immediately

I have a question. I do not plan on getting OOTP5 immediately when it's released btu I am in a few leagues where they will be switching over as soon as they hit their offseasons. My qustion is will I still be able to run my teams using ootp4 still??

I have worked on my teams hard and do not wish to lose them just because I won't be orking in 35 bucks for an update to the game as soon as it comes out. Anyone have any answers??

I would imagine that any league file created using OOTP5 will not work with OOTP4. So it's only a guess on my part, but I would say no..

I still think it is better if leagues do not transfer over right away due to maybe a bug or two popping up.
Maybe wait a month to make sure things are like water

My league may switch after the 2nd or third season, thus giving everyone time that will get the game, to get the game.

Whichever game the Commish is using to run the sims will be required by everyone in the league, unless the league has special GM rules for people who do not own the game (there are some leagues that do this). Note that OOTP4 & STB2003 were interchangable in this regard, but there will not be a STB version of OOTP5.

just keep ootp4 installed for your online leagues till they switch over.... you can have both ootp4 and 5 installed at the same time

Version 3 could read version 4 files. It just didn't have the stuff that was specific to version 4 on there. I would imagine version 4 could read version 5, with the same effect.

I always got blank players when I would accidentally load a v4 league in v3.

Really? I didn't have problems with it. Or maybe it was versions 2 and 3 I'm thinking of. Hmmm....

In the Official OOTP League (OOL) it looks like we are waiting for the release of OOTP5 to begin our next season.

The new USBA season just began but we are going forward with OOTP4 and will switch upon the completion of the season.

As everyone hs already said, you won't be able to participate using OOTP4 with OOTP5 leagues.

So, your commishes are going to convert on you and basically kick you out of their leagues because you don't want to make the investment right away? That kind of sucks.

Yeah, I don't expect that all of our owners will have the new version right away. But we're willing to nurse them along as long as they plan on getting it at some point.

Exactly what the TLB will do. Our season ends 1 week after the v5 release date. I don't want to push off upgrading to v5 for 3 months, so we will upgrade right away, but we'll work out something for owners who need some time.

My league is converting to OOTP5 when it comes out (currently in off-season mode). However, I've compensated for owners that won't be able to upgrade right away by putting a lineup submission form on my page:

http://www.gonzobaseball.com/Lineups.htm

It doesn't take too terribly long, IMO, to type this stuff in and hit the send button. . .and the form doesn't take long to set-up either.

But yeah. . .our offseason has been going for about 6-8 weeks or so (finished the season right around New Year's), and I don't want to put things off any longer than I have to.

BALL is doing the same thing as most leagues...at the end of this season we're moving to OOTP5. We'll keep a submission form up on our website at least for that first season.
