Fictional Association with Historical Players BUT ...
I am trying to create a Fictional Association of two 8-team leagues that are regional in basis: Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic.
I want NO fictional players, only historical ones. There are two main ways that I have tried to make this happen: 1) I create the leagues, dump the rosters and eliminate the free agents and then go to league structure and add historical teams whose players I want. I then click the fantasy draft function to clear rosters and hold an inaugural draft, eliminate the historical teams so only the fictional ones remain. I keep including 13-15 historical teams so that with the minors there will be no shortage of players (and I set the subsequent first year player drafts to be of historical players from all eras). BUT what keeps happening is that the inaugural draft is filled with fictional players along with the historical ones. I noticed that the default setting is for 162 rounds in the inaugural draft. If I check before the inaugural draft begins after doing all of the above and cut it say 30 rounds (I should have included plenty of players for the teams to draft that many without requiring fictional players to fill the rosters) ? 2) I directly start with historical teams to begin the league, then add more historical teams with the league structure edit function, then click the fantasy inaugural draft function and eliminate the teams and add new fictional ones in the league structure edit. Then hold the inaugural draft. BUT again the draft has tons of fictional players in it that I don't want. Is that because of the high number of default draft rounds? Or is there some other way to just turn off the creation of fictional players in a fictional league? The other option is to create a historical league. That means that the team names change back to the actual historical franchises which I don't want to happen but can live with if needed, but at least there are no fictional players. But it seems that there should be a way to create a fictional league without any fictional players and only historical ones. Anyone? |

Check these settings maybe:
League Settings Players - Default Player Origin set to 0% from random origin Generate International Free Agents - set all four of these to none Rules - Amateur Draft Settings check the Disable auto Creation of Free Agents I run a historical PCL league starting in 1903, that I started as a fictional setup and I import the historical PCL players each year from a text file that I create, into the free agent pool... I don't think I ever see fictional players showing up... I keep a close eye on the number of players I import each year vs the number of players at the end of the previous year minus retirements just to be sure no fictional players are being generated... Haven't seen any so far... If you do a historical setup you would need to turn off league evolution to keep the team names from reverting back... |

Create a historical league using the historical creation wizard. Example, 1964. You can select how many levels of minors you wish for your league.
Make sure not to select the option to require full minors. If selected the game will create fictional players. Make sure you uncheck the box for auto expansion. Real important. If checked all your fictional teams will revert to historical teams during your first offseason Follow the wizard to the end and create your league. Once your league is created, select release all players and schedule an inaugural draft from game settings, available league actions, all league functions. Then you want to go under the same menu and select Edit League Structure. This is where you restructure your league. You can delete teams to get to the 16 team league you desire. You can set up your subleagues to your desires, add divisions, eliminate divisions etc.. This is also where you can relocate teams and assign fictional team nicknames. I always check my teams individually to make sure they officially relocate to my fictional locations. Make sure you create/import a new schedule that fits your new league structure. Optional, but you might want to erase all league/players history. This will allow you to start fresh. Run your draft and you will off and running. Thanks both of you. I do shut off auto-development, and all the four international fictional player options and generated FAs but I think I missed the Players-Default Player Origin to 0% for random. Also I did not realize in historical leagues that the restoration of franchise names is due to auto-expansion. I will try to set up two leagues - one fictional and one historical using both your suggestions and see if I can do either one correctly, or hopefully both.
