My Son

As a few of you who are Facebook friends with me already know ... my son Nate Hanson passed away Thursday night from a self-inflicted gun shot wound ... I won't go into details but it was a bizarre situation and appears to have been an impulsive act ... there were zero signs to us or to his brothers in the Army ... we are all shocked and devastated ... anyone who knows me knows that Nate and I had an incredible relationship ... he was more than a son to me he was my best friend

I used to post on here all the time about his high school and college football adventures ... since leaving college he joined the US Army (stationed in Washington State) and was married in 2012 ...

I am so sorry Mike. I remember the photos and posts about him back in high school.

I pray for comfort and peace for you all Mike; it must just be too much to bear.

Truly sorry to hear about this. Words seem completely useless. You and your family are in my thoughts.

I never know what to say in these moments, but I still wanted you to know that reading of your situation affected me.

I'm sorry and hope for only the best.

So sorry to hear this. Words fail me. Terrible terrible loss. May God bring you a measure of peace as you struggle to deal with this heart-breaking tragedy.

I know we have communicated on FB Mike, but this was the forum that our Friendship started in and over the years we have shared stories of our kids growing up here and I know who much you love Nate, and how he reciprocated that love.

I can not even begin or pretend to imagine what you continue to go through my friend and this has had a profound impact on me. For one, since we have a son in the in Military, but most of all because even a father and son with a bond as strong as you and Nate can be touched by a tragedy of this magnitude.

I have said it several times, but I will say it again, Candi and I are here for you and you are in our thoughts every day. You have our love, prayers and thoughts every step of the way Buddy.

So sorry, Mike. I saw this thread title yesterday, but did not click on it. Had no idea it would contain such terrible news. I don't know what words from someone outside of the situation can even come close to comforting you and your family, but you will be in my thoughts.

Mike,

I'm so sorry to hear this! As verbose as I tend to be, I can't express my feelings. I'm at a total loss.

May God be with you and your family.

Buddy of mine lost his daughter to cancer earlier this year. Just seems so unfair. Our kids should live on after us. If one of my kids died I would be gutted. Mike, try to remember all the good times. Family needs to draw together more than ever. Take strength in those left behind. They need you and you need them.

I know alcohol can help deaden the pain of loss but take care. Been down that path myself.

I just got back on the internet today from the holiday crush. I know we don't know each other well, but I've been reading posts from you on this board for half a decade. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
