A Few Suggestions to go with the Thousands Already Made

OOTP is a truly amazing product. I love it. But there are a few things that I think would make it better, along with all the other very good suggestions made in other threads.

(1) It would be nice if the play-by-play noted all defensive substitutions. Currently, relief pitchers, pinch hitters, and pinch runners are pointed out, but defensive substitutions and position changes occur without any commentary at all.

Another nice improvement along these lines: when a player is starting to give a regular guy a day off, have the announcer mention that in the player's first plate appearance.

(2) The game log does not include a full record of every play on the field. The most common example-- which I've pointed out before-- is when a runner is thrown out at the plate on a throw from the outfield. Currently the game log records only the fact the runner was thrown out at the plate, but does not record which fielders were involved on the play.

I just played a game where a runner was thrown out at home on a 7-5-2 play (from the play-by-play description). From the game log, you can't tell if the play was 7-2, 7-5-2, 7-6-2, 8-2, 8-5-2, or 8-6-2. There really doesn't seem to be any good reason for this. When there is a ground out to short stop, the game log records it as 6-3. When a runner is thrown out at the plate on a 7-5-2 play, the game log should record it as 7-5-2.

(3) In the league drop-down menu you can select League Info --> Complete Transactions Log, but "Complete" it's not. In my solo league I can see every instance of a team adding a player to the DL, but never is there a corresponding transaction showing who was promoted to replace him.

I think it would improve the game to have all transactions recorded in the complete transactions log. I don't think there are *any* recorded transactions where a computer-controlled team makes a simple swap between the major league active roster and the reserve/minor league rosters. It would be great to see all those transactions, and have corresponding newspaper items for each one.

Or is this information available somewhere else? Is it buried in the one of the database tables?

(4) In addition to recorded transactions, it would improve things if the game recorded role changes for each team. Teams in my solo league will occasionally change their pitching rotations and lineups, but the only way I can tell this has happened is by paying close attention to the box scores and team roster pages. The game would be a lot better if this sort of thing was recorded in a log with corresponding news items.
