Managers, Scheduling, Playoffs

Managers -- I'd like to see the manager records undergo a revamp. It would be nice if we could see a "Leaderboard" for the different manager statistics. I'd also like ot see managers get elected into the Hall of Fame. Maybe add an option for the minimum number of wins, and winning % in the league creation settings so that the HOF criteria can be adjusted for leagues with shorter/longer schedules.

Schedules -- I'm not sure how difficult this would be to adjust but there's one thing about the in-game scheduling that drives me crazy. I have a fictional league that employs 2 subleagues of 12 teams each. The teams each play 100 games per season, all but one of the regular season series are 3 games a piece. The in-game schedule builder will constantly schedule a home series followed by an away series, followed by another home series, etc. It just doesn't make sense to me. It also never takes geographical location into account. So if the Brooklyn Atlantics play three games in LA from Tue-Thur, and then 3 back in Brooklyn from Fri-Sun, why would they then travel all the way back to Seattle for 3 games? It's not a major issue, but it just bugs me.

While I'm on the topic of schedules, it would be really cool to have an option for double headers.

Playoffs -- It's been addressed numerous times but a "Playoff Leaderboard" would be really cool. Currently, it takes way too much time to manually apply the correct filters in order to see these statistics.

Association Playoffs -- I'm new to using the "Association" option, but I must say, it's a been a game-changer for me. I love it. I love that it allows for an additional customized round of playoffs, however, I've one suggestion for improving this function. I have one league in the assoc. that is divided into sub-leagues/divisions. I have another league in the assoc that is one division of X amount of teams. When I customize the playoffs, I'd like to be able to select the top X number of teams from each associated league based on final team record. Currently, from my league with sub-leagues/divisions I can only select division winners and wildcards for the association playoffs. The schedule then pays no attention to winning pct when it seeds teams and schedules games. The other league has no sub-league so I can just choose the top four teams and it seeds them appropriately. It would be cool if we could just choose to view all associated leagues in descending order based on winning percentage. I think a lot of us use the "League Association" option to create a tournament style of play and it's frustrating to manually schedule these games.

Also, perhaps this is already possible but I can't figure it out: How about association records? If players move from one league to another, their career records are maintained in both leagues separately, how about having a "Leaderboard" for all combined associated players and teams?

This post was long-winded but I hope it provides suggestions that others would appreciate. Thanks for making the best damn baseball game on Earth.

As you've discovered, the in-game schedule maker isn't very smart. I doubt, however, that it will ever improve. The schedule doesn't know where teams are located, so you'll have a team criss-crossing the nation on crazy road trips. The only way to avoid that is to use customized schedules. There are plenty on the mods forum. It looks like there used to be a schedule that matched your league, but for some reason it was removed - if you can't find a schedule that fits, you can always request one.

I'm pretty sure that the first time you import a schedule, the teams will be ranked alphabetically, so that the first team alphabetically will be team "1" on the schedule and so on. That way, you can make sure that teams have realistic schedules. But that only works for the first time you use the schedule -- if you use the same schedule for subsequent years, the game will scramble the teams so that you don't have the same match-ups every year.

I used to have a schedule for this setup but I lost a hard drive not too long ago and I too have noticed that it no longer exists on the mods board. The scheduling isn't a huge deal, it was just something that I've noticed and it bugs me a little.

Thanks for the tips though, I've never realized that the teams were sorted alphabetically and then assigned a number. Maybe I can make it work on my own.

I'm not really familiar with associations, but I believe you are correct. And you're right, that would be a good addition to the game, and it might also make players more likely to use associations.

One more thing about Managers...

It's been called to attention before but something needs to be done about player/managers in historical leagues.

I had Fred Clarke the player traded to Brooklyn while Fred Clarke the manager continued to pilot Pittsburgh. Is there any way to make the AI recognize this as a conflict?

On that note, can we have an option for player/mangers in Fictional Leagues as well?
