Expansion teams--reorg divisions?

I would like to add expansion teams (and take charge of one of the new teams), storyline is that the Dayton Dragons build a new stadium and become an MLB expansion team due to the longest record for sellout games in all of sports (that's the excuse, which is true, having sold out over 1,000 consecutive games and counting...and they are the local team as well.) In gameplay terms, Cinci will get a new single-A team name and jerseys/logos to replace the Dragons; the Dayton Dragons will be an expansion MLB team in the NL. I'll also add an AL team to keep things balanced. I am pretty sure I know how to add these teams.

Here's the tricky part--When I do this, I would like to reorg the entire structure of the leagues to be four divisions with 4 teams each...1 from each existing division (per league) plus the expansion team. (I don't like the idea of having 6 teams in a single division.) I will also change the playoffs (no more 1-game wildcard, that drives me nuts...any team can win any given day, doesn't show who is the better team necessarily!).

How would I go about reorganizing the league at the same time as adding in expansion teams? (I want to keep the same existing players on the teams that move to the new division...just a move and a reorg in playoff structure. Not sure how to move existing teams to the new divisions.)

I am thinking I am going to do this instead of a completely fictional league and see how it goes against current MLB teams...wonder how long it will take for me to get to the playoffs, get a World Series title, etc.

Game tab > Setup & Options > League Setup > Expand League & Expansion Draft is one option. Also on that page, Edit League Structure and move teams around as you wish.

One thing you need to make sure to keep in mind is to find a schedule for your new setup. OOTP doesn't have the ability to create schedules. You should have no problem finding one for the setup you're planning to use.

Thank you both!!! Got it set up now, I believe; ready for the expansion draft.

Just to clarify, for the schedule, do I just need to tweak the options, then (once all options are set the way I want) click on "regenerate schedule" (or whatever that similar-named button is)? I tweaked a few things around, like no interleague play and no more 1-game playoff (wildcard is 3-game series), reduced the regular season length to 150 games to compensate for the lack of interleague and the longer playoffs, then clicked the button to regenerate the schedule; is that all I need to do to be ready?

Hitting regenerate schedule will work if you don't mind having a schedule in which divisions teams play each other the same number of times they play out of division teams. Regenerate schedule will create a schedule in which teams play league foes 10 times each. All off days will be leaguewide off days, meaning the #1 guy in your rotation will most likely always be up against the other teams #1 guy. If you want a non balanced schedule you will want to see if there is one on file for a 32 team league with 4 divisions per subleague.
