Single-season historical replay

I've long been an MLB quickstart and fictional player, but decided to delve into some single-season historical replays. I want to use real transactions, and I'm able to get it set up correctly, I believe, but here's my question.

When I select to use historical transactions during the setup process, I'm then told that things like injuries and trades will be automatically disabled. But then when I finish the setup and get into the game, injuries are still enabled. I then check the historical options and real transactions are enabled. I've gone through the setup process multiple times to make sure I'm doing everything correctly, and injuries always remain enabled when the game starts. I discovered this because I had a player injured in the middle of a game the first time I started a season.

Am I misunderstanding something or is this a bug? And if it is a bug, can I just turn injuries off and things will proceed correctly?

Injuries are not disabled if you're using real transactions only. Injuries will be disabled if you decide to use real transactions and real lineups.

Interesting. That's not what the setup suggests. If I click only real transactions and not real lineups, it tells me all those things are going to be disabled.

That's very helpful, David. Thanks.

Depending on what historical season you're playing you may want to look at team rosters before choosing your injury setting. Remember, teams will only have players that suited up for them during that particular season, so sometimes OOTP injuries can lead to some rather short rosters. May want to go with low and set fatigue to high.

I was thinking that I'd leave them off. If I do that, will a guy who got hurt and missed time in real life be demoted at the proper time, or will the game just ignore real-life injuries and only use real-life promotions/demotions?

No, players will not be demoted according to real life injuries. Using real transactions also has nothing to do with real-life promotions/demotions. What it does is assure that all trades, cuts, signings etc occur according to history. The main problem or I should say the thing that bugs me the most about leaving injuries completely off is the fact that pitchers will basically always start the max # of games. This is why I really wish OOTP would offer another injury option setting that assures no injuries longer than a week take place. This would allow for pitchers to miss a start, but not cripple short staffed teams.

If you use real lineups, players that were injured or demoted etc will not start games for their teams, but they will be available as subs.

Great, this explains a lot, thanks. I'm going to turn injuries on an set them to low and go from there. I want control of lineups myself, so I'll set it up that way and get rolling. Appreciate all the help!

One other thing and you probably already know this, but I thought I would mention it. Make sure you select the option for single season(not career) during setup.

Yeah, I did use that. The setup seems pretty simple, but I was thrown off by the message saying injuries would be disabled, then getting into the game and seeing them turned on. But it all makes sense now, thanks.
