Hey y'll, we had/have a situation where one teams Catcher was a Type B free agent - he was not signed during the off season and after the season started (say a month or so into it) he was signed with a minor league contract by another team.
The original team did not get a supplemental draft pick...and we can't figure out why this is. I have read the listings and qualifiers for type A/B and it seems like they were all met as far as original team offering arbi, player rejects it becomes FA.. The only odd point is that during FA Period in pre-season he was asking for real money to sign, then after season begins he takes a minor league contract - original team gets no sup pick - and he is still classified as a TYPE B free agent at end of season. Any idea on this or insight I/we may have missed. Thanks in advance for help,

Did he sign the MLC after the draft? IRL, that is the cutoff date after which no compensatory pick is given.

My guess is that no comp pick was given because he signed a minor league contract.

Thanks guys, that was sorta my thought but could not find a confirming mention of it anywhere. Really appreciate the time and replies.
