October baseball has caused me to jump in with both feet!

Alright, I've lurked on the message boards long enough. It's time to finally jump into what looks like an amazing baseball-sim and an even better community!

I'm not new to baseball, or even manager style sim games (I'm a pretty avid Football Manager player, for an American), and I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Simply put, how do you guys start off? Does it take a long time to reach the majors if you start unemployed? Should I play as my favorite team (Boston)? I was also thinking about limiting myself to choosing from ONLY those clubs that had NEW managers in '14.

So, overall, just wanted to say hello, and just ask if there is a good, "basic" way to get started?

I joined a fictional online league. Did not play solo for years, about 5% of my OOTP is solo, maybe less.

I vote Yes.

This is PURE opinion. Turn scouting off or set accuracy high-100%. Others will disagree, I also recommend listening to their experience. It may serve you better.
Take a look at the ratings system. Using 100% accuracy but a 1-8 or 1-10 ratings system will leave a lot of room for ambiguity in talent assessment.
Be willing to delete your first league as an experiment. Not a sure thing but just be open to your first time being an experiment.
