How do I fix this?

Hello, I'm really sorry if this is the wrong place to be posting this but I can't seem to find ANYWHERE else and endless google searches have gotten me nowhere.

I have just downloaded the demo on a Mid-2009 Macbook Pro (mavericks, 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB Ram) last night and began to play. It all went well until I began an actual ballgame and the "field screen" had a black background. I could see player names and team, but there was no field in the background.

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong that can be fixed in the settings, but I've tried everything else. I have reinstalled the game, attempted to change the screen resolution (which also causes the entire monitor to start flickering) and nothing seems to work.

Could someone please help? Thank you!
