Back-up Error
I posted this is the bug thread but haven't seen a response and the ability to open tickets appears to just not be working, so hopefully someone here can help me out.
`````````````` BACKUP PROBLEM I was playing away an fall of a sudden it wouldn't advance to the next day. It loaded to 92% and then stopped. I had to quit the game and lose everything since my last save. No big deal. It isn't happening any more... BUT... Now it won't back up that game! Whenever I try to back it up, I get an error that says "Error during backup function. The backup could not be updated!" I need to be able to back up my game! How can I fix this?
Copy the .lg directory to another location
I moved the backup to another location, hoping that writing OVER the backup was the problem... but no such luck.
I'll try the .lg file.
I copy my .lg files for backups frequently, it works well.
Have you tried out the back up function in another league?
Yes. Back ups still work properly in my other three leagues.
I DID find something that indicates an error. A player I signed before the crash, and then signed again AFTER the crash has BOTH signings listed in their history.
You can use the free utility 7–zip to zip up your league files periodically and you can add the league date to the file name so you know when in game terms the league was backed up (example: MLB09152014.7z).
It's easy and fast and that way you always have good backups. Plus you can copy them another drive to be extra safe. Download
I do not understand the details of what files OOTP writes to in real time but I have seen this happen before. I am 99% it happened when I had to ctrl+alt+del out of a game because I screwed something up.
