Strange fatigue causing early pitching substitutions.

Hi, I'm having an issue with (as the title suggests) weird pitching fatigue and the ensuing subbing. For about an in-game month, several of my starting pitchers have been going from "fully rested" to "totally exhausted" in two innings, causing them to get regularly subbed out after the second inning. Their stamina is rated pretty high. I have one particular pitcher who became totally exhausted after 0.2 innings a few games ago.

Anyone having any idea what could be causing this? Am I missing something here?

Here's a screenshot of one of my starters. Check out his last few games:

I hope someone can help, this is kind of game-breaking actually.

rain delays? seems unlikely, but I know those usually make the SP go tired quickly

I checked the box scores, and it isn't rain delays (and I doubt I would have rain delays every single game for a month anyway). I isn't that cold either (67f).

Well, I guess the first questions are,

1. Have you changed any settings lately?
2. Have you had any crashes lately? (It could be a corrupt league file).

The obvious issues that come to mind are the following:

1) Is there any chance the players position was changed from SP to MR/CL during this time period? I assume you would have noticed, but I thought I would mention it.

2) I believe there has been an issue with SP elected to the all-star game and used as relievers being treated as relievers when they return. This may have been fixed already, I'm not sure. I don't suppose you had your all-star game between 6/1 and 6/7?

Other possibilities include changed settings in the league set up, but I assume you would have mentioned it if you were changing things in there midseason.

Aahhhh, I think it may be the all-star game. The pitchers this is happening to were elected to the AS game. In fact, early June was when it happened. When I get a chance I'll go into the game and see if their positions are set wrong.

EDIT: Their positions weren't changed (they're both listed as SPs) but indeed, the problem is limited to my all-stars. Has a patch come out for this without me noticing?

The fact that he's throwing just over 30 pitches each time makes me wonder if there is a pitch count set for him.

Yep, there was a pitch count on them. Don't remember setting it though. I've removed it. Thanks for the help, it's working fine now.

Check in your Pitching section to see if your rotation is set to "Strict." If you sim through the playoffs the AI will automatically change your rotation size to 3 or 4 pitchers and "Highest Rested" for usage. After the playoffs are over, the sim switches it to "Strict" instead of "Strict; on occasion highest rested" (which is my default setting).

This has happened to me and even starters who have 20 stamina end up being exhausted after 40-odd pitches as a result.

Hope that helps.

That's interesting that there was an actual pitch count set. I'm glad you were able to fix it. It is still awfully coincidental that it happened right after the all star game. I was going to point you to this thread: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ll-sudden.html where a similar issue is discuss and I know the powers that be were working on it.

I wonder if a moderator can bring this thread to the attention of anyone working on that bug to see if the two are related. I don't know why starters (used in relief in the ASG) would come back to their teams with a pitch count, but it is not impossible. A few versions ago, players returned with different primary positions, though I believe that has since been fixed.

Anyway, most importantly... I'm glad you got it working again!

Perhaps the AI sets a pitch count for the ASG so they're handled in and ASG-like manner and then fails to change them back.

Patch 4 was supposed to fix the ASG problem.

I think I may have manually set the pitch count limiter when I was fooling around a while back, it was probably just a brain fart on my part. I took another look and it doesn't appear to be an ASG bug, since in fact, one of my non-ASG pitchers had it set as well. The ASG thing seems to be a complete coincidence.

I'm thinking now this was on the user-end (IE me) rather than a bug.
