Question Game saves every day

Hey all. I am having an issue with my game apparently auto-saving everyday, regardless of what I have specified in the settings. I've had it set on "once per year" the entire time but if I sim a few days, proceed not to save, and then go to "load game" to re-load from my previous save point, the game just loads from the latest day and not from where I last saved. So If I load a game on May 1st, do absolutely nothing but sim to May 10th, and then go to "load game", my game starts off at May 10th (current day) without having ever told it to save.

The only thing I could find on this was a person on Steam who had the exact same problem. Seems one of the Devs replied (Brad) and he had no idea what the issue as. (here's a link to the Steam discussion)

Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone offer some advice? It's extremely frustrating. Thanks in advance.

Two things: When you go to load another game, it automatically saves the current game first. Also, when you go to re-load the current game, it is merely refreshing itself, not going back to a previously saved time. Auto-save is not provided to allow you to "revert" to a previous time (that's what backups are for). Auto-save is a safeguard in the event the game crashes (and perhaps you have not done a backup recently) so you can at least recover at the point that it last auto-saved.

EDIT: Also, when you close down the game, it automatically saves at that point as well.

Thank you for the response. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something somewhere. This is my first version since OOTPX and back then that I had this pretty detailed league setup with HS and College feeders. But I couldn't get the player progression just right so I kept simming and re-loading and simming under different conditions until I found a sweet spot. Just to be clear, it seems like I no longer have that option (the option to sim, see the results, and restart form a previous point), correct?

OOTP has always had the auto-save when closing the game or a league to open another. That has not changed from OOTP1.

Perhaps you were using backups previously?

That must have been it. Thanks to both of you for the input. Guess I just needed a refresher course.
