Question about player stats history updating
Like the title says, question about a players stats history
![]() If you see where my green arrow is pointing... I updated the Dodgers abbreviation to be LAD instead of LAN, same for the Angles... , Mets, Yankees, Cubs, White Sox... I would like for this to update all the previous seasons in the database. Is there an easy way to do this? Its a OCD pet peeve of mine. Appreciate the community's help! You guys all rock! |

Bump. Anybody? Another example is the "KCA" I'd like to make "KC. Is there a easy way to update this for all years prior?
KCA -> KC LAN -> LAD CHN -> CHC CHA -> CHW ETC... I can update these in a clean sweep for the current season and beyond but looking for a way to edit prior to 2014. |

It's a double edged sword. It's one thing changing the abbreviation, but when Montreal moved to Washington, their historical stats should show MTL not WAS for the seasons they were in Montreal. It probably comes down to how they are stored in the database.

Personally, I think it would be wonderful to have an overriding history of franchise locations, names, and abbreviations that could be defined for ranges of years in the team setup. So you could go back retroactively and define the A's as being the Philadelphia, Kansas City, and Oakland A's (which appropriate abbreviations) for the specific years that are applicable and then have this flow through to player histories and update appropriately even if the change was made decades later. |

Yes you can. A bit of work.
In the main settings, export stats. They will go to 3 notebook files in the import-export folder. Open them. Make the change, save them, then re-import the stats into the game. I only suggest using this for changes in the first year of starting a new game- you can lose a few things doing this after a league has been running a few years |

Edit: I'd assume this is a one time mass edit correct? I don't have to edit every year for every player right? Meaning if I open those 3 files and update KCA to KC it will change it league wide all at once, correct? Last edited by Hockey13Playa; 07-15-2014 at 01:41 PM. Reason: Added context |

Ok so I exported the three stats files and did a mass find replace of what I wanted to update... for some reason when I "Erase all MLB stats" then import them all they are not updating... any ideas why the changes are showing up?
These are text docs... its easiest to update in word, does this effect why they are not updating? It's telling me the import was successful... |

Anyone? I started my game. Exported the three text files. Edited all histories/team abbreviations and saved the files. I then erased all MLB stats and reimported. Nothing is updating. Tried summing a day, commissioner mode, closing and reopening OOTP, nothing seems to work.

The abbreviations are linked to the team id in the db. Changing the abbreviations in the text files will have no effect whatsoever on how they show up in game. The only way to change that is to change the abbreviation for the linked team in the game itself. Sorry

Changing the abbreviation for the team itself should change the abbreviations for past seasons linked to that team's id as well as the current season. Hasn't it done that for you?

![]() So you can see all three spots where you enter in an ID I updated it to say "NYY". I hit enter after editing each so make sure they have stuck or taken place. Now when I go to any Yankees player it still says "NYA" See Derek Jeter: ![]() I don't understand why this isn't updating? I've updated it in every spot I can think of.. those three line items as well as the three fielding, pitching, and batting career stats text files. ![]() ![]()

You can change the past. Just simply changing the abbreviation should do it. It does it for leagues other than MLB at least, I just did it in the *** earlier tonight.
I'm not sure I've ever actually tried it in MLB though. Let me test it out and see what happens. As to the point, it's so that you can edit and change stats, add them, switch the teams they're linked to. etc. You can build a rl league not included in OOTP from scratch and include accurate player stats. It's a really useful tool, but it's just that the game overwrites any changes you make to that one field, the team id field. |

Hmm, guess it doesn't work for MLB. No idea why, though it probably has to do with the fact that MLB was built through a Lahman db originally. I'll add this to my list of stuff to ask Markus about.
