League Converting from OOTP13 to OOTP15 ... Should I ink this deal before the switch?

Player Report for #24 Claudio Canales

This is a scouting league, so those ratings are not accurate at all. This guy is blossoming into a total stud. He is now considered "excellent, if not elite ..." in his report, and has 16/11/13 ratings (which is really good for our league) with excellent speed and CF glove.

The dilemma is this:
Our league is converting to OOTP15 when the season finishes. I have the ability to let this guy go to arby, get one year, and then ink him to 4 years (which would be done on OOTP15) OR I can sign him to 4 years @ 750K each year right here and now on OOTP13.
The $750K deal is great, but if we were to stay on OOTP13 I would definitely let him go to arby, get his $700K for 1 yr, and THEN ink him to the 4 year deal. I did this last season with one guy and it worked out great.. It allowed me to get one more year out of him.

My concern is that when we swap to OOTP15 his contract demands will skyrocket. So I let him go to arby, he gets one year, and then what? He asks for way more than $750K per for 4 years, or maybe he doesn't even want to sign with me at all.

What do you think? Should I sign him now (before switch to OOTP15) or let him go to arby and then sign his contract on OOTP15 (where it may be higher/more difficult/impossible)?

whats to say he doesnt want more money after arbitration? i would lock him in now.
if you are concerned about that last year of control, why not just sign him to a 5 year deal. hell, do 6! its not really a crushing salary number if he doesnt pan out. im not sure what your financials look like but even in my current game as the lowly padres, i would definitely sign a guy who is considered an elite cf prospect for 4/5 years at 750k.

I'd go more than 4 if I could. 4 is all he will take.

You're right about it being a great deal, but I'd still like to squeeze another cheap season out of it if it was possible. I am mostly proposing the question to see if people find OOTP15 to be much more difficult/expensive in contract negotiations.

my advice is still just tie him down. how much money is really at stake on the extra year? is it worth risking losing him?

Well, I wouldn't lose him as he would still go to arby, but I definitely agree with your point and have put the offer in on OOTP13.
