eLicense folder is empty
I hadn't played OOTP4 in about a year, so I downloaded the
latest patch and fired it up. When I clicked on the icon nothing happened so I tried reinstalling and it still didn't work. Reading in this forum made me think it must be related to a license issue so I opened up Control Panel in XP and looked in the eLicense folder and it was totally empty. How do I get the license back. I have a registration number and I did pay for the game last year. My first email from Viatech suggested turning off fast switching which I don't have activated anyway. Any suggestions? |

If you have the liscence number you should just be able to start the game, click Liscence and enter the liscence number and be ready to go. Unless you have used up all of your liscences, in which case you'll have to contact Via Tech to get them back.
Hope this helps. |

That's the problem. When I try to start the game it won't start.
The little hourglass will flash for a few seconds and stop. |

when you right click on the game icon do you get the option to unliscence? Have you disabled the liscence control start up program?
I might consider a fresh installation at this point.. but if you get the option to unliscence you should definitely unliscence it first. |

When I right-click on the icon I get the standard responses(open,
explore, properties, etc.) but no option to unlicense. I've already tried reinstalling the game but that didn't work either. Strangely, I have 2 eLicense folders in Control Panel and both contain nothing. You mentioned activating license control. How do I do that? |

You may want to contact Via-Tech as I have not seen this issue before and feel certain that they could help.

Well, after browsing thru the last year of this forum I found the
answer. Seems like the license control services had been turned off somehow. Don't know how that happened. After going into administrative services and searching I hit the right keys to turn it back on. After all the years of using computers this is something I'd never encountered. Thanks for all your help. The game loads fine now. Looking forward to OOTP5. |
