Player discipline

I have a starting pitcher on my team who has had 3 altercation this year. One with a fan after a loss, a shouting match with the manager, and this last one he started a fight with one of my relievers in the dugout during a game. I think that we should have the ability to suspend and/or fine a player. I am not complaining about this story line, I actually love what it is bringing to the game, but the email I received ended with the fact that the team handling of the situation would be coming in the next few days. That is all well and good, but the only options I have are to demote him, release him or trade him. I would love to suspend him to send a message. I will still try to work out a trade to get rid of him I just think the option to suspend and/or fine the players would be great.

This is a great idea, why can't we suspend or fine our players?

While this is a great idea, the reason that specific player had those three altercations is (I believe) because they are coded together as an ongoing storyline. I had those three events happen in that exact order one season, as well. So, while being able to punish players would be a really cool addition, the storylines that would allow us to do so would have to be massively diversified first.

EDIT: After checking the storyline file, though, it seems that this specific storyline was intended to be interactive, allowing you a choice of how to punish the player after the third altercation. It's possible this isn't working properly.

His name isn't Carlos, is it?

You can bench him but not suspend

If you want to replicate a suspension and fine, you could do some maths and use the salary editor in commish mode to reduce his salary by the amount for the number of games you bench him for.

I would definitely like these interactive storylines to be fixed though.

The question is how often do you really want this to happen? If it's more than one player per season per team it smacks of arcade gaming.

Can anyone tell me the last time a player was suspended by their team and for what? I'd guess Yunel Escobar but that may have just been a benching because it was really the managers fault.

The only one I thought of was Carlos Zambrano...may have been more than once. I know I saw one of the occasions when he punched his catcher as they were going back to the dugout

Its more common for guys to get benched for being late or dogging it. You really have to be a pariah for your own team to suspend you these days.

Wish the damn force start for Pitchers worked...3rd straight version it doesn't

Guessing here that "force start" for pitchers simply changes their role but does not guarantee a start unless they are in the rotation. Correct me if this is wrong. I see that as working as intended but not necessarily as expected. For position players saying force start at 2B is binary because there is no other list. What we should have is a force start by platoon ie I'd like to control my 2B starter by pitcher handedness.

I have had to use force start to have my closer used as a closer and to force the interloping MR closer to be used as a MR.
