Do you think OVR rating is pretty accurate?
Hey guys, from experience, do you think the overall rating for OOTP players (both potential and actual) is a pretty accurate representation of the underlying tool ratings? Or is it really important to look behind the OVR and see what each tool is rated?

You've GOT to look behind OVR. It's useful enough as a first-glance rough estimate, I guess. I use a spreadsheet to calculate my own admittedly-simple overall. I could make the spreadsheet better, but I want to play a game, not work. :P

I was thinking that was the case. I was looking at catcher prospects in the game, and I saw some pretty high potential overalls for guys like Gary Sanchez, who has lots of power, but just a 50 grade on his defense, the most important tool for the position. Glad that there's value in this game to looking beyond OVR. :-)

Personally I tend to turn off overall ratings because I find them a bit too accurate, to the point where it becomes an unfair advantage for me.
