Stars being Released Mid Season
Using the opening day rosters on 15 I've noticed something odd.
In multiple sims Stars have been released mid season in year 1. Here are some examples: Pittsburgh released Liriano and McCutchen. Nats released Weth, J. Zimmerman Angels released Hamilton, Pujols In all the examples the teams were struggling and moved into rebuilding mode, but why wouldn't they trade these players. (Especially in the Pirates case). Any ideas on how to limit this ? I have trade settings as very hard and very low, all other general settings are standard. |

You haven't changed anything in financials? That's very odd. Certainly something I haven't seen. Doesn't make a lot of sense either since the contracts are guaranteed and they'll still be on the hook for them.

Be absolutely sure that you didn't accidentally tick a box in settings somewhere. I would go back through and look at everything. In particular, I would make sure that you did not turn on reserve era contract rules. What you describe (over-paid veterans released in mid-season, around middle of July) was surprisingly common in the reserve era and there are examples even into the early 1970's before modern free agency.

Thanks for the replies.
I hadn't changed anything in the financials. The only thing I did do was accidentally disable the 40 man roster rule (miss clicked when disabling expanding roster) I had a couple of backups so I'll do some tests and try to re-create the results. |
