Why I Love OOTPB!
I'm sure all of you have great moments to share about OOTPB games.
I had one today. I was totally stunned while playing out this game. I use OOTP12 for this league. Here is the game recap from my Ruthlandian-Tycobbian Dynasty League: THE ISLANDIAN TIMES Monday, October 2, 2045 2045 IPA LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES - Game 3 Tycobbian Union SUN SOX SHOCK RED SOX ON LONG'S GRAND SLAM Game three of the Tycobbian LCS was a tense battle for 8 innings, tied at 3-3... then it took a turn toward the miraculous... Josh Stevens boomed a grand slammer to put Red Bluff seemingly in front to stay 7-3... only to have Southport mount an impossible comeback with 5 runs for a fantastic 8-7 win, culminating with James Long's miracle grand slam homer to give the Sun Sox a third consecutive victory in the best-of seven affair... Southport lost the opening game of the Division Series, but has rolled to seven straight wins since then... one more win over Red Bluff in the LCS and the Sun Sox will get a golden chance to repeat as IPA champion. Starters Jack Wallace (2-0/2.22) for Red Bluff and Cade Brockton (1-0/2.16) for Southport kept things under control for the first 8 frames... Wallace was touched for 3 runs on 7 hits in his 8 innings, while Brockton allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in his 7 and two-thirds innings... then the bullpens took over and both of them tried their best to lose it... the Red Sox clobbered Hal Combs (1-0/0.00) for 4 runs on 2 hits in the top of the ninth and seemed almost certain to get their first win the series... but no... Ayden Carmack (0-1) was even worse as he was slammed for 5 runs and 3 hits by the Sun Sox to take the crushing loss. The Sun Sox had the advantage in hits 10 to 9... Southport CF Barney Lewis (.152) sparked them with 3 hits... LF Chris Jones (.300) drove in a pair of runs and scored twice... SS Gonzalo Topez (.452) was 1-for-3 and scored 3 times... Stevens (.310) had a double and the grand slam and drove in 5 runs for the Red Sox... he now has 3 homers in the playoffs and 11 RBIs... 3B Fran Blanchard (.289) got his third roundtripper in the playoffs and had 2 hits. Eugene, you sure have the immersion aspect of this game down cold, judging by the writing of your news article. My hat is off to you, sir.

I sim the regular season, then write a summary covering each of the divisions, but play out the playoff games and recap each game. You really get to know your teams and players when you write news stories about the games. The players really come alive, so to speak. Last edited by Eugene Church; 04-27-2014 at 12:38 AM. |

I have to second this. I don't even write dynasty reports, I just keep a word document full of news stories about my most interesting moments. It's amazing how much it adds to the game.

Heh, that is strange, Eugene. You don't bother with logos? I'm sure you know that there are tons of generic ones out there for adaptation.

Or he could just hit up Add-Ons Central for The Nickname Project - The Complete Edition.

Maybe he just likes that style. Those are custom logos, after all, not the ones that are generated by the game.

I do have custom-created logos. The wonderful guys on the Mods Forum did them for me years ago. I think the problem with them was that OOTP12 used circular logos and mine were mostly square and might not have fit the space.
knuckler did many of them. #1 is the Ancona Red Elephants #3 is the Arroyo Grande Suns Last edited by Eugene Church; 04-27-2014 at 10:31 PM. |

Very nice. You should work on getting them back into your game. Too good not to use.

Well if you can describe what you want and want to send me the league file I'd be happy to set it up how you'd like and get it back to you.

It's this factor that in my 1995 Dynasty that kept me hooked in,
and why backup C Adam Melhuse then of the Blue Jays and journeyman, injury replacement Chuck Cary of Havana will always be in my memory The former hit a soul crushing HR to change the momentum of the League championship, he hit 2 in 200 PA in his rookie season The latter had an ERA in the 6.00's and would be wallowing in AAA if not for 3 SP going down, yet he went 7 IP and K'd 8 to keep Havana alive
