Anyone try out the new in game staff hiring?
Say there's someone that's currently a GM, If I decide to hire a new GM, does the old GM switch teams with the guy I replaced him with, or does the guy just go into the free agent pool.
I'm asking because i'm trying to fix the GM's getting hired as bench coaches for some teams while waiting for amazon to release 15. Some of those GM's have multiple playoff appearances and they're not at their right jobs.

Well, I just tried and you cannot just go to another team and try and hire a guy. At least not during the regular season. You can hire a guy while you have a guy in place, at that point it will "fire" the other guy and you will eat his remaining salary.

Would that mean the guy "fired" can't be hired by someone else because his salary is still with the other team? It's a CPU team i'm doing it for. Just so I can fix some of the GM as bench coaches before OOTP 15.

You can't hire someone away from another team, as far as I know. You have to offer the contract to an unemployed coach.

Does that also mean active human player coaches can't get asked for promotions

You can get promoted up through your organization, all the way to GM, if you start as a minor league manager. If that's what you're asking. |

The only thing that changed in 15 was that you can now offer contracts to available personnel while someone still holds the position in your organization. In previous versions you could only offer a contract if the position was empty.
ie: You want to replace your pitching coach. You can offer a contract and wait for a reply before firing your current pitching coach. Previously you had to fire the old coach first before you could offer contracts. |

2. I mean AI controlled teams, with an empty manager/gm position can they offer human coaches promotions and I can respond either yes, no, or offer an extension/raise to stay where they are.

You will be offered jobs within your current organization if they open up (so if you're managing a AA club and the AAA manager leaves, you can be offered the AAA job), but to get offered any job from another organization, you'd first have to leave the organization you're currently with. I haven't played as anything but a GM in a long time, but I don't think that it's changed.
