Fictional League: Bizarre initial players
I noticed that the initial draft pool for my fictional league is very strange. The quality variance among batters is very low, and with relative ratings almost every single one of them (including all the minor leaguers right down to rookie ball) is rated 2.5 or 3 stars. There's basically no difference in ratings between the top 10% and the bottom 10%.
What's going on here? I knew initial player creation could get a bit weird in OOTP, but this is something else. Bug or WAD? |

Never have seen anything like it, so I have to suspect that either your settings are the issue or some kind of fluke.

I agree with Q-Dog.

I have patch #1, and all my settings for player creation are at default (1.000).
I created a new "test league" using the default fictional league template to see if it had something to do with my specific league setup. The same thing happens. Here's a screenshot (totally default, no settings even breathed upon): ![]() EDIT: I think this guy may be having a related problem. This is a bit of a shot in the dark because I've had very limited time with 15 since Friday. But, I'm wondering if this is caused by the new relative ratings. Is it possible that with that option turned on, the star ratings are now rating the players based on the league they're in. So in other words, a Double-A guy in the screenshot would be a three-star Double-A player?

They ratings look varied.
Perhaps no scouting has taken place for some reason. Try a forced rescout and see if that clears up the problem with the stars. |

Yes, I am starting to notice that the issue seems to be limited to overall ratings (a player with 7/9/10 is rated the same overall as a 4/4/4). How do I force a rescout?

I clicked on that, unfortunately it doesn't seem to have made a difference. I tried setting scouting accuracy to 100% and removing "complete scouting" (in case it was due to an incompetent scout), but the same thing happens. The game still seems to think that a 4/4/4 and an 9/9/9 are the same overall.
Relative ratings aren't the issue. With "traditional" ratings, a 4/4/4 and 9/9/9 are both given a 0.5 star rating. I also noticed that current vs. potential ratings are also weird. Even when a player has a huge difference between current and potential ratings, they both show up the same overall. Last edited by Neasag; 04-22-2014 at 12:30 PM. |

Upon further investigation, I have found out that traditional ratings are fine after the scouting that goes on prior to a season (hitting the force rescout button does nothing for some reason). Relative rating are still totally wonky.
EDIT: Well, it seems that the traditional overall ratings fluctuate wildly, regularly jumping between giving all minor league scrubs 1.5 star ratings (during the offseason) and 0.5 star ratings (during the season). Last edited by Neasag; 04-22-2014 at 01:02 PM. |

I have similar with starting a new ML game. Nearly every minor leaguer is 1.5 stars current/potential, even truly dreadful ones. Every single minor leaguer in the Cubs organisation has a minimum of 1.5 stars for example. This is with a variety of ratings settings.

Bumping this. I still have the same problem. Relative ratings are totally messed up. Every single batter in the minors is rated 2.5/3 stars. The relative system sounds good in theory but I just can't get it to work.
