Looking for ESTABLISHED league
I have been playing ootp since ootp3 but I never been in a good league that really got going.
I have joined at least 5 leagues that looked like they were going to be good only to have the league fold before even getting started. I am going to give this online league stuff one more shot... If you are an established league out there looking for a good owner please contact me. This time I am going to be interviewing leagues rather than the other way around. I would like a league made of fictional players... Prefer 2 sims per week maybe 14 days each. Modern day league... I don't want to take over a league winning team. I really would like to get a team that is terrible and try to build that what I really like to do. Then if I can build them from nothing. It will be great to try to keep that team on top... |

I'm in the same boat as you. The only difference is that I want a league with real major leaguers thats only in its 2nd or 3rd year.

I am troubled over your track record of five failed leagues that failed to get off the ground. Five leagues that folder before the season began? I have a pretty good eye for spotting leagues that look solid and those that look doomed from the start but even without picking and choosing with any sort of predisposition, I'd figure people would have much better luck than you have so far!
Good luck with your reverse interview process!

I could be wrong, but most established leagues aren't exactly hard up for owners, and probably wouldn't approach you to be "interviewed" when there are plenty of other potential applicants out there who will come to them.
Good luck with your approach, but if it doesn't work just do a little research- check ootp-leagues.com, or the links in sigs you find here... it takes about 5 minutes to figure out whether a league is established or not. Find 10 or so leagues you like, get on the waiting lists, and something is bound to open up within a month or so.

I think were I might be going wrong has been in looking for startup leagues in the past. I wanted that build from scratch league but I just can't get lucky... For example.. I last joined Hardball (commish simsportsworld) had a great bunch of owners some good early e-mails about trades. League was looking really good. It was a small 10 team league... Two days before the first sim a post showed up on this board about another league the same guy was starting I questioned on our board about this only to be told that the league was still a go eveything was fine. The first sim took place, then nothing from the commish for two days until last night the league got an e-mail telling us it was closing. Every league I join seems to have the same type think. They have not all been before the first sim, but all have been before the halfway point of the first season.
Mannytrillo, I don't think the established leagues are hard up for owners but I do think that a good established league will be looking to find a good owner and would welcome an owner who is willing to make sure this is going to be a good league before wasting his time on it. I am only looking to join one league and give that league a good active owner... |

Darrell,
The PABF is in search of one good active owner ![]() We are a new league, and have had early bad luck with 1 franchise. Other than that things are going very well. The Mexico City Matadors are currently available... we are in year#1/sim#3 so the league may not meet your criteria of established. Anyway if you are interested, check us out at www.pabf.net Thanks, Manny

I have to believe that type of scenario is very rare. Aside from a guy I am aware of who started four leagues within a few months time, closing each one during the first season for various "personal" reasons, I just don't see this type of thing very often. As Trillo stated, there are some solid established leagues that still go through occasional turnover. You sound like a GM who would be dedicated. I wish you luck!

check out the FBBL too. We're entering 2009, so... well, we've been around a while.
We started when OOTP3 was released. If you're interested in my league though, please note you'll have to devote a LOT of time to it, as we follow most MLB rules (arbitration, rule V, 40 man roster, etc...) pretty closely. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have, and the link is in my signature. You can reach me on AIM at FBBL Commish, or on the offchance I'm not online (Downstairs watching Mallrats) you can e-mail me at crackpott@rogers.com and I'll get back to you within at most a few hours.

This guy has to be a good person as he's from Tennessee and his board name is 'GoVols'!
GoVols, If you don't find what you are looking for, come to the ABA and get on the forums as a vulture. We fill vacancies with vultures and presently we have none active on the boards. BTW, what part of Tennessee are you from? ABA link is in my sig. |

The MBLS is an established league (going strong since 1993) that's got some openings.
It was a Diamond Mind Baseball league until last year, when we made the move to OOTP. There are both some very good teams and some not-so-good teams available. We're getting ready to begin offseason activities in preparation for the upcoming season. Take a look at http://www.mbls.org email commish@mbls.org for more information Later, jamey |
