Scoring vs hitting

This isn't a bug so much as a gameplay issue. Really more of a question, I guess.

I play historical leagues. I've played OOTP 9, 13 and now I'm on 14. I had a season that started in 1920 and I was up to 1925 when the file got corrupted. All that progress gone, but spilt milk, right? So I started a new season in 1959.

What I've noticed is that, whether in the early 20s or 30 games into 1959, there is a scoring pattern that holds true for ~80% of my games. Regardless of the power in my line-up or my opponents, it seems that most game finish with around 25 hits and only 2-4 runs. On average, I would say either me or the CPU load the bases with less than 2 outs and fail to score 3 times a game.

To take one player: So far in 1959, Hank Aaron has had 103 at bats with 34 hits, only 7 of which are for extra bases, with 2 home runs.

Maybe this is all anecdotal and my memory is bad. Maybe these were low-scoring eras.

I really enjoy the game. But this feels a little unrealistic to me. Does anyone else experience this?

I've never experienced this problem. It certainly isn't the players: In 1959 Aaron batted .355 39-123. The 1959 Braves averaged 4.6 runs scored, 3.9 runs against.

I suppose there are a few things we can look at:

How deep are you into the season? You're in serious danger of small sample size and confirmation bias.

Is this league wide? The best way to tell would be to compare runs scored / runs against vs. total games played. If it's only your team, it could be the way your lineups are constructed.

The number of hits seems awfully high. I would be curious to see what your batting averages look like, especially since your Aaron is actually doing worse than RL (.330). Going back to the '59 Braves, they averaged 9.1 hits/game.

When you start a new game, make sure the modifiers by year are importing correctly. That could have an effect as well.

Show the league history for the current season and we can see what may be off.
