Reserve Rosters & Free Agency
When one plays with reserve rosters and free agency, when does the free agency clock begin (years until free agent)?
Is it once the player is first placed upon the active roster? Also, does the "Years until Minor League Free Agent" just limit how long you can keep them on the reserve roster prior to activating them? |

If you're not using minors, I don't think the years until minor league free agency will apply.
As far as when the clock begins for players on the reserve roster, I believe it's once they are signed to a major league contract, which I think is the only kind available when you're not playing with minors. So the clock would start right away. But I don't typically blend free agency and reserve rosters the way you're doing, so I can't be 100% sure. Last edited by Charlie Hough; 03-14-2014 at 02:08 PM. |

A player sitting on a reserve roster would be the same as a player sitting in the minors. For major league free agency with or without reserve rosters, time on the active roster is all that matters.
