An open letter to Markus and team

Ok, I have seen all the requests and thoughts and ideas and all the other crazy things that go on with every release since I first got on board. To be honest, that was nearly five years ago, and I was just a young lad in this game of OOTP. Young being I just got back from my second tour in Iraq, the taste buds of curiosity aroused about baseball thanks to the discussions on one site about the Yankees vs. the Rangers vs. the Royals. A discussion that went on from the opening of spring training until we got home six months later. It was further intensified by my discovery and sharing of Baseball Mogul.

Well, that curiosity now aroused and my love for Baseball as is, I went looking for the Baseball Mogul again, this time as a gift to a first sergeant who I had great respect for (except he was the Yankees fan on site LOL) and I was looking around my local Best Buy and found OOTP 11. I was curious and when I read the cover, it had my interest further aroused. I am a stats guy. I admit it. And OOTP had the ability to satisfy that side of me as well as the baseball fan.

So I bought it. Never have thought about getting BM since. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but OOTP was different, challenging, exciting. I loved it. And you know what, I was so excited by it, I went and joined a OOTP league, or two or three....and bought OOTP 12....and joined more leagues. I left a couple I first joined and then later became co-commish in a league or two. I bought OOTP 13, argued its points and convinced a couple of leagues to move over. I had to wait on 14 since I was in transition from the military back into civilian life but I got 14 as soon as I could. Now 15 is on the horizon and where does it take me...as soon as the first day I could preorder it, I did.
Now, many can say, oh, it hasn't changed...it's still the same. In some ways, it is. In many ways, it is not. There are some ways some could argue it is worse. I disagree. It is better, keeps on getting better as the wow factor keeps getting higher.

And here's why: Markus, Andreas, Jeff and the team listen to us, the game players, the idealists. They listen to our ideas and our suggestions. While some ideas are held off or impossible to do, other ideas are done, added and make the game even better. They keep adding to it. They keep making it unbelievable. They want feedback and value it too. They know they have a gold mine here, and it is just ready to go further then ever before. And it's not the money they make (maybe?), but it is the fact they care enough to interact, listen, and go hmmmm...it's possible. Similar to the challenge Neil deGrasse Tyson put out in the new Cosmos series immediately: They see it; they try it; they test it, and regardless if it works or not, they question it all. But it starts with us and our ideas, and they make those ideas possible in OOTP. And if they cannot, they look for a way to do so.

And for that, is one reason I stay with OOTP. Stay with Markus and his team. Because they create the means for our fields of imagination to come to life. Great job so far, and I look forward to the awesomeness OOTP 15 will bring and beyond. Markus, I have a beer for you and one for Andreas as I tip a third to your continued success. Thank you.

OOTP for life!!

P.S. In case anyone is wondering, that first sergeant, now command sergeant major, never got his copy of BM. I think I will buy him a license to OOTP 15 this year.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

And like this guy, I was once a Mogul player...I came across OOTP at OperationSports, checked it out, and its like heroin from April-August for me. Heck, even in the off-season, I'll kick around and spend 10-20 hours a week doing something (discovering stats to input into the game, creating a large game).

I have never played a game as literally addictive in my life. For AGES I was less than impressed with Madden's coach mode and wished you guys would do a football game, so it made my day knowing that you are working on this too - super psyched.
