Question for those that play Stats only

I am trying it again and going to play stats only but I have a couple of questions about potential. One is, do you use anything for that? What I mean is do you have it on say 2 to 8 rating or anything?

The other question I have is, if you don't use the potential ratings at all, how do you judge a players possible outlook?

Thank you for anyone that tries to help.

You can always read scouting reports for clues about potential.

That's what I do..no ratings no where no how. I don't even use ratings on scouts or coaches and I have them both turned on.

I use a 5/40/35/20 AI eval setting that gives the AI a slight advantage with ratings, behind the scenes, then I use the scouting reports and my own interpretation of the stats.

This works for me, maybe not for others (no ratings, period). I find myself studying more stats and trying to find form, much like handicapping horses! I have a blast doing it and it just seems real to me.

As far as the outlook goes, I give everyone of my prospects a first season in Rookie or Short A, even if it's only a sip of coffee. I don't use feeder leagues, though I should really take The Wolf's advice (which I read and respect more than any other's on the board about this subject) more seriously. But, again, like the horseracing game, it's all about finding form and potential in what you see in front of you.

Hope this helps!

I have the potentials on the 1-5 scale. I just don't want to take the time to filter through all the data without some coarse filter like that.

I use 2-8 scale for other ratings. I turn off actual and potential ratings. I hide injury ratings also.
