Wordmark Question
Folks,
Is there an easy way to get a white outline around logos/wordmarks that are being placed onto caps and jerseys so they stand out more? I am using PSP6. I have a tried a few things but nothing to my satisfaction (see the Vermont jersey on my New England Collegiate thread). Thanks in advance.

I don't know if Paint Shop Pro allows you to apply a "stroke" to a layer, but you can fake it by selecting what you want the outline to appear around, expand the layer 2 pixels (or thereabouts), and then filling the selected area with white on a layer underneath the wordmark.

Found this in a search and it works in PSP ver X5...
Paint Shop Pro - Stroke Tutorial So you've probably seen those really cool stroke effects in Photoshop, but I am going to show you how to do it in Paint Shop Pro! 1) Start with your basic image. 2) Now open a new, blank file, bigger than your picture i.e. My flower is 200 * 200 pixels, so the new file should be bigger, or the same size. 3) Fill it with the color outline you want. 4) Now I will go back to my flower image, do a Ctrl + A to select all, Ctrl+ C to copy, and then go to your file with the outline color, and paste as selection (Ctrl + E) 5) Now go to Selections > Modify > Expand and set the number of pixels to 1-3 depending on how big you want your outline to be. 6) Click ok, copy it, and paste it as a new Image. Yay! You have an outlined image in Paint Shop Pro! |

One issue is that when you fill the white layer you may have jaggies since you have a hard edge. You can use a feather selection instead of a expand selection. Use a low value. Another option is to make the expand selection and then add a small amount of Gaussian Blur to the white layer. Gaussian Blur allows very small values. Somewhere between 0.5 and 1.0 should be good. Feathering or adding blur will smooth out the edges. You may not see the difference in game but you will know it's there plus this can be applied if you do this for larger graphics.
