No Amateur Draft - Problem
I have a very unique (I think) league setup. I have a 16-team National League, and an 8-team AAA American League. The premise is that after every year, both leagues empty their rosters, the NL drafts their rosters from the entire pool, and then the AL picks up whoever is left.
I don't GM in this league, as it would be way too easy to dominate by simply taking all of the solid veterans in the draft that the AI stay away from. I have trading set to "Heavily Favor Vets", but that doesn't work for the draft. There are also many other roster issues that would be too easy to exploit, but that's besides the point. Anyway, one of the main purposes of the AL is to give all new players (prospects) at least one year of experience before heading up to the NL, where they will surely be taken even though they haven't fully developed yet. This means that the NL would have no amateur draft, as no new players would be generated for that league. However, as is known, new players join the league as FAs on the first day of the offseason, and they get snapped up by AI teams even though the "re-draft", as I call it, is literally the same day. The players are also generated in the AL, and, since the AL has no playoffs and the season ends earlier, almost all of them get onto teams. I don't want that. What I have done so far is created a age minimum for the NL (20), and made sure all created players for the AL and NL are 19. However, some are still picked up by AL teams, so I have to delete them. I then create a bunch of prospects in the AL aged 19 before the drafts. This way, the NL can get everybody except the new players, and the AL CAN get the new players. This works somewhat, but I still have to delete the players. Is there any way to do this? In a nutshell, is there any way for no new players to ever be created in a league EVER? If I can add them manually, when I want add them, and it works the way I want it to, that would be perfect. Also: In an amateur draft, is there any way to not have those generated stats? I want all new players through an amateur draft to come in with no stats whatsoever. Last edited by Ike348; 03-01-2014 at 04:33 PM. |

I'm far from an expert, but I've asked some questions about playing with no draft before...
In this thread Questdog told me that when you play with no draft, new players are created on the first day of the offseason. I haven't experimented enough to know whether the game only creates players if you "need" them, but if you know when they are coming in, you could take measures to control their introduction by deleting those that you don't want. |

I knew they were created, and I could get around that by sneaking in and deleting them, but I was wondering if I could make the game not create them at all.
