How is this happening?

Just joined an online league, 1990 historical based on a historical database.

One of my players, Will Adams, appears to be pitching out of his mind - I get that players sometimes outperform their ratings, but this seems crazy? He's at AAA level. In case anyone thinks it's "luck" - the BABIP is .316 (lg avg 295) and FIP 2.84

Ratings are on 10 point scale. 1/2 star out of 5.

Scouting is off.
Could he hack it in the MLB?

How is what happening?

Nothing out of the ordinary there. He has 3 decisions in 7 starts, most of which he's given up a lot of hits. Just guessing but I'd say he has a pretty solid defense behind him.

I don't see what the age should have to do with it. That does not factor into his ratings or performance, as far as the game is concerned.

I suppose I could bring him up to MLB at some point, and watch him get rocked, then release him.

Or, try to trade him to somebody dazzled by his stats. Of course, thats hard with ratings on, as he clearly is not very good.

it does since he has more developed skills. OOTP does not give you the rating for the level the player is playing, rating for MLB. try same 25 y.o. scrubs in Rookie league.. they usually dominate

I understand what you are saying -- the ratings are relative to MLB and not to AAA. Even so, most players with ratings this poor would be destroyed in AAA.

Could just be small sample space, I'll check back in a few weeks.

Thanks

maybe, i don't use ratings, but have had many AAAA players rake in minors but not worth anything at MLB level

Like bluenoser said...that looks like defense

Look at your Middle Defense 2B/SS/CF

Bring that A+ defender up

Doesnt a BABIP above the league average negate that theory though?
