Worst start to MLB career

I have a catcher I brought up this year that so far has gone 0-24 at the plate to start his career. He was batting .360 in over 400 at bats in AAA and hit .280 in AAA the year before.

What is the worst start to a MLB career you have ever seen?

Not a baseball historian, but didn't Mickey Mantle start similarly?

You may be thinking of Willie Mays. Mays started 0-for-12 and went 1-for-26 to begin his career (the lone hit did leave the yard, though).

So I looked up the record for the real MLB and it looks to be Vic Harris who was 0-35 before getting a hit. Attached is a list of the worst starts up to 2010 if you want to take a look.

Longest Streak with H=0 From 1920 to 2010, At least one AB or SF, To start career (limited to 400), Played: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF, DH, PH or PR: Results - Baseball-Reference.com

Guess my catcher has a few more at bats to go before he breaks that record.

This is what I was going to quote, and from a top prospect who did very well in the minors.
