Best late round draft steals?

Just wondering if you guys could share some stories about late round draft picks that ended up turning into steals for your franchise? MLB or fictional, doesn't matter.

Just found this guy drafted in the 16th round #390 overall in 1969. All of a sudden he's become a man among boys. He just won the Triple Crown in his third year, winning by 6 homers and 46 RBI.

could you post his stats prior to the draft, so we can see what would have been an indication?

So I assume that although it may be rare, players can certainly become stars even if they have really crappy potential ratings when drafted?

Could a guy that has a contact potential of 7 end up improving the actual stat to 17 after like 5-7 seasons?

Edit: Just read about the TCR setting. Didn't even know about it, haha.

I was going to say the same thing. Damn though! .342/40/156 for 277k? A GMs dream.
Eligible for arbitration this offseason? Open up the checkbook buddy. Methinks there will be two zeros added to that salary.

Apparently he was created the exact same year and high school as another future all-star right fielder. During a down sophomore year, Evans lost his starting job. He played great in the part-time role as a junior and senior but I guess the decreased playing time lowered his stock come draft day. Definitely something worth keeping an eye on. Here's the whole career so far for Evans and the guy who stole his playing time in HS.

It's 1970's financials, sad to say. The league high is $388k. I'd be so pissed if I was a HOFer in the '70s watching these youngins today earn ridiculous $$$

Ain't that the truth about HOF'ers though. Look at the ridiculous salaries all these mediocre pitchers are getting nowadays. Outrageous.

I just purchased this game not too long ago. I will have to pay attention and see if any late rounders amount to anything. Havent played my first season yet.

Of course. It's incredibly unlikely that it'll happen for any one specific player but it'll certainly happen to a few different random guys in any given game.
