Players look dead

Never started a league older than the 70s, but just started one in 1913

Didn't care about real pictures for the players b/c I don't find much immersion in black & white pics

But, the players look like dead people (something I don't recall seeing in any of my other attempts to play)




So, when I hit the "Pictures" button on the player card & select "New fictional picture" it gives me a picture that looks like a live person

But when I go to Setup>Player & Picture Options, I can't figure out how to update all the player pics at once. Under the Player Picture Functions section there, I hit all 3 buttons (Update/Generate All Player Pics, Force Update/Generate All Player Pics, & Generate New Player Pics), but every time I'm still left with morgue pictures

Some of the players don't have any picture at all, which beats the dead body look, so I'm up for getting rid of all player pics if that's easier

Yeah, the historical facegens were done in a rush and they're sometimes pretty bad.

You can find a great deal of improved historical faces in this thread though we haven't been posting any updates lately

Otherwise I'd recommend trying the black and white facegen mode, it makes those un-dead faces look much better.

You can turn off those facegen pictures too if you don't mind fictional pictures. Just go to Game Setup, Player & Picture Options, then uncheck the Load Facegen files automatically box. Then I believe if you update all player pics it should work.

Did that & restarted, still have dead people pics

They were born in the late 1800's. They are dead.

Sorry, compelled. If lukas and NYY are on the job, you'll get the answer. I thought for a minute you may have selected a different setting, Sepia or such, but it may well be a case of real photo replication in facegen. Sure we'll figure it out.

After turning off the load facegen files automatically setting you'll have to delete the already generated faces. Do so by deleting the pics in your following folders:

Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 14\data\saved_games\whatever your league is named.lg\news\html\images\person_pictures

and

Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 14\data\saved_games\whatever your league is named.lg\news\html\images\profile_pictures

No need to apologize. I hate, hate, hate the zombie apocalypse facegens myself, so completely understand your feelings on them.

Maybe in another couple years we'll finally get around to getting all of them fixed up, unless I can figure out how to add more hours to the day before then

I spoke too soon. Went to the Transactions section & the top FAs in the Offseason Center no longer had zombie pics, but the zombie pics are still there when I click the players name. Is there a way to get rid of the zombie pics from the player profiles as well?

Are you sure you deleted everything in both those folders? If not, you'll want to do so. If so, they should be gone, the game doesn't store faces for an ongoing game anywhere else to my knowledge.

Positive. Only thing in the person pictures is default_player_photo & default_profile_picture which aren't zombie-esque

Deleted everything in the Profile Pictures folder & restarted my game. Checked the Profile Pictures folder & it was still empty, but every time I click a player & see their profile, it has a pic come up & then that pic ends up showing up in the Profile Pictures folder

Shouldn't be Thought I knew everywhere that stuff was stored, I've been through the save game folders file structure often enough for one reason or another. Will have to take another look. Hang on...

For now after the folders are entirely cleared of anything that came up, try deleting all the facegen files from your Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 14\data\fg_files folder and then see if they still regenerate.

endgames's comment got me thinking. Maybe it shouldn't matter but try deleting everything in this folder as well:

C:\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 14\data\saved_games\your league name.lg\news\html\players

They still regenerate. And they're the same ones each time, so it's not new ones being made each time (if that helps)

Try deleting the faces.dat file in your .lg folder as well, though you may want to back it up just in case it screws something up.
