Lance Berkman & Michael Young

Thought this was a good read. Really interesting facts about HR's and 1st n last ML AB.

Ferguson: Berkman, Young, and others who left on high notes

It's little tidbits of statistics like these that are always interesting to learn about.

Good stuff. Especially Miller's first-and-last-AB homers with nothing in between (even if it was only 61 AB). Bet he didn't see that coming.

Berkman and Young were both professional hitters who were good players for a long time. They will both be missed, but it was time for both of them to retire. Berkman was done. Young could have hung on as a versatile bench player, but he decided not to go there.

I feel bad for Michael Young. He played the game hard, the right way, with complete selfless dignity, and I'm never sure he was ever afforded the respect he deserved. The Rangers threw him all over the diamond, positionally, as they kept acquiring more furniture pieces. Maybe Young wasn't good enough to justify anything other than making room for new guys. And so close to being a World Series champion.

Not a Hall of Famer, not even close. But probably one of the top 10 greatest Texas Rangers ever.
