Anyway to create more room for draft pick signings?

Playing with the Cubs and I had the #2 overall pick. Apparently my owner does not approve me going over the draft budget for my 1st or 2nd round picks. I was able to sign my 3rd, 4th and 5th rounders no problem.

Anyway to create more space? I tried trading away players, and got another like $6 mil off the books for this season. Still no go.

I don't think there is any way to create more space except for going into the editor and increasing your cash. Just suck it up and accept that you won't sign him. That's what'd happen irl if you tried to draft a guy you didn't have budget room for. That's why you'll see high picks that don't sign sometimes irl as they want more than the club can or will pay. At least you'll get the #3 pick as a comp pick next year.

also check with time. i was once able to have enough room 2 weeks later (i guess i saved more money the projection expected...)..

btw if you want to still be able, setting yourself as Commissioner would usually allow you to go over budget... but that may be cheating :-)

also, how much money did you allow yourself? i usually drop my development budget to have enough money for the draft

Actually, you know what I noticed this happened to me last time I ran into this problem. I made 1 or 2 trades and it wouldn't let me offer them their demand, but then the day of the signing deadline I was magically able to do so.

Any idea why this happens, and what the timeline is for something like this?
