Promising/Inauspicious Professional Debut

I looked at this guys batting stats and saw that he had a heck of a first AB. Talk about a good start to your professional career. A perfect 5.000 OPS. One AB--one grand slam.

Then I noticed the WAR. Negative? Huh? What the fagoaly?

Ahhh...then I saw this:

Attachment 319141

A 0% Defensive rating. 1 TC--1 error that did lead to an unearned run. Strange. So I had to ivestigate this guy, 22nd round or not, a little more closely:

I have a guy on my rookie league squad in my online league that is 4-8 in his career, with 4 HR's and 4 RBI's. I'm not holding my breath on him ever making the bigs but you have to admit it's one way to get noticed early on.

Oh, I sim too--same as you. I only play 1 game per series. I was talking about the 1 month at a time players.

Funny thing is that I used to frown down upon people who played out their games. They were totally missing the point, I thought. Now I'm one of 'em.

i play game for some fun stuff, but then i discover some weakness ofOOTP and get upset, like when i couldn't figure out how to turn my C-1B-2B-SS-3B-LF-CF-RF player into pitcher for the 9th inning,,,

i did play Johnny Smith's debut. he was hit really badly and lost (Johnny is my first drafted knuckleballer who was good enough to make it to the major)

I was going to ask about your knuckleballer. I still haven't got one to the majors yet (8th season). Always looking though!

still only 24. back in AAA for this season. his Knuckleball still rates as a 9/10 but scouting still does not like him. he will get every chance. is he can emerge in an above 0 WAR pitcher, he gets the spot (my starters are so so this year)

Yes, I hate that one. There were 2 catchers that I was looking at 2seasons ago that I was trying to trade for and wasn't sure which one I would go with. I saw that he could pitch a little bit and that was the difference maker. Just in case I got into 15th-20th innings he might come in handy. But I can't use him as intended.

Oh well, I look over little things like that.

I sim the season (3 games at a time) and watch the playoffs. What drives me crazy is how my manager insists on letting the SP go deep into a game instead of getting him out of there when he starts to go south. The AI changes pitchers constantly but my manager (not just one but all of them) keep the starter in until he either blows the lead or loads the bases trying to. It cost me a championship this last season. my starter gave up 4 runs in the 7th 8th and 9th innings of game 7 to lose 8-6.

I know I could force them not to do this but I am basing my game on being strictly the GM, I don't even do call ups and send downs I just handle the financials. Anyone know what I could do to fix this without breaking my theme too much?

what are your setting for taking pitcher out? mine are really quick hook, and my manager seem to oblige.
