OOTP on Steam - runs hot?

Hello everyone. I'm brand new to OOTP, and I just purchased it on Steam. I have played the stand-alone demo of OOTP 14 earlier, and it didn't overheat my Macbook Pro very much or use a lot of battery. Now, on Steam, my computer is running hot while playing the game and it is using significant energy. Is this an issue related to Steam?

Football Manager runs very hot, of course, and is a load on the processor with or without Steam; but for OOTP I heard it was less intensive, but is still warming up my lap pretty good.

I got OOTP just before it was available on Steam and have not had any problems with it running hot on my laptop. I play Civ V which uses Steam and it will burn my leg off, so If I had to guess it's not OOTP it's the Steam engine running in the background.

Nah, it's not Steam. Steam bootstrapper only runs about 8K.

I have a steam copy of 14 and a non-steam copy of 13. They run about the same to me. But, I am running it on a desktop and a PC so maybe not apples to apples. In any event I am seeing close to the same memory usage.

My experience is that laptop heat output seems random. I've seen mine idling super hot with no programs running and other times less hot with games on.
