Disappearing Player Pictures

For awhile now I have started to notice random player pictures disappearing. The photo is there in the player profile screen but when you look at that days games and during the game random player pictures disappear. I have tried to remove/regenerate and update all photo's but it does not work. The photo seems to be there. And during the game there are players that will start the game with a working photo but after an AB or two it will disappear.

The game is great. Its an annoyance I have tried to work my way through. But its still there.

Same by my OOTP Version (Windows 7 / Version ??? i must look ...the newest version for windows 7 and the newest OOTP 14 version)

But i have a tip to solve the problem for this time that it appears, go to the profile screen, go to the picture options and take "same picture", than the picture reloads and appears on the games screen and all other screens which shows this picture.

you must do this for every disappered picture, this is a little bit annoying, but it helps.

If you're experiencing this only for players on the away teams, Turn off Away Uniforms and that should solve your problem. It's enabled by default and if you don't use away uniforms, you'll experience this annoyance.

14 is done.

I have not seen this behavior but if it is reported in the bug forum it may be fixed for 15.

I am running Windows 8.1 and I have the latest version installed. It did this on Windows 8 as well. And it happens to both the away and home teams.

This is a known Facegen bug that some folks (including me) are experiencing. What is happening is that if you minimize OOTP and then maximize it, the first picture that Facegen tries to generate after maximizing ends up "invisible" (meaning if there's a background, all you see is the background with no face).

If it happens when viewing a player's profile pic - no big deal - click on the "Same Picture" option and it regenerates with a proper pic - fixed.

If it happens while playing out a game with a player's home uniform pic, I believe the "Same Picture" option also works. But you have to remember to do it *AFTER* playing out the game, as the option isn't available while you're playing out a game.

If it happens while playing out a game with a player's away uniform pic, the only workaround I've found is to go into your league's graphics folder (news/html/images/ - I think the name of the folder is person_pics or something like that), locate the player pic that's "invisible" (easiest way to do this is to sort the files by last modified time and go down from most recently modified to least until you find it), and delete that pic. Then the next time OOTP tries to load that player's away pic, it will generate it correctly. Or you can turn off away uniforms altogether like a previous poster suggested.

It's annoying, and I thought it was fixed in the most recent patch (I haven't installed it yet due to other concerns). But the workaround is to just not minimize OOTP if you can help it (at least on Windows - just use Alt-Tab to get to other open windows instead), and if you DO minimize it, click on a player's profile page after you maximize it so that it's easy to regenerate the first broken pic that Facegen makes.

I have just seen this for the first. I guess I spoke too soon. I didn't minimize OOTP I used the desktop button on my keyboard so I guess there is more than reason to cause this.

Yeah - I've noticed that "Show Desktop" has the same effect as minimizing OOTP and maximizing again - the "invisible face" bug happens in both scenarios.

HP, are you also using the latest patch and still seeing this bug? If so, I guess there's no rush in upgrading since that's the only issue that I'm experiencing (that I know of...)

I bought the game through Steam so, yeah, it's fully-patched.

One other issue I noticed.

History first:

I reinstalled Bobble's facial hair mod when I transferred my league to 14.

But after this issue I noticed that a few of my players didn't have facial hair. So I went to the settings and all zeros. So I went through all 90 types and had to reset them...again.

I wonder if that is also related to this?

Did that too still not effect.

Mine is just not in one place but all over the game..ie stats, profile, within game, so forth.

This is immersion breaking.

This calls for a hot-fix. I cannot play this game like that. Shoot. I love this game. I'll just go back to 13 and be real cautious about 15. Unfortunately I have played about a month of my season on 14 already.

Geesh. This bites big time. I'm not going back a whole month.

Very disappointed.

Hey Guys,

Sorry about all the hassle and disappointment this bug is causing! This must get fixed for OOTP 15.

I go now to report this to the developers....

By the way, if anyone would like to roll back to a previous update that worked better, kindly let me know. Rolling back will not affect your data such as saved games.
