Anyone tried regular short starts?

So I read this: Replacing setup men with "openers" - Beyond the Box Score

and thought boy, wouldn't it be fun if a team tried this or ? Then I realized I actually had a game that pretty much allowed me to give it a shot if I wanted, though I'd be more likely to go with the short starts mentioned in the article rather than starting with the setup man.

My question is had anyone tried it? . I can certainly give it a go when I'm playing through games, but how would you set it up to for simmed games? Start with low pitch counts for starting pitchers, obviously. Would you leave your bullpen wide open, assign just one role (closer?) or maybe none at all?
