Team status questions

I'm not new to the game, but if I set my team status to rebuild, will I be offered more prospects in trades?

And if other teams are in rebuild mode, will they be less likely to accpept veterans or 29-30 year old players?

In my experience, it impacts what other teams are willing to accept more than what I get offered, but that's just experience talking so I could well be wrong.

I really hope that's not the case. Why should what I'M trying to do impact what the other team is willing to accept? If I want to rebuild/push for the championship, that's my business, not theirs. I would think that what the OP is asking would be more accurate; however, I don't have any evidence of this. Theoretically, that's the way it should work, though.

i have tried a few times to see if there was impact, and saw little.

2 things that seem to impact what i was offered: So called weaknesses. my team was weak at CF, so i got offered a couple overpriced CF. I move my all star SS, to CF, and the offering changed (of course this is day after, so something else might have affected).

AI rating focus. went from Favours Prospect to neutral, and i received different offers.

i have not changed an AI controlled teams focus yet to see what that does.

I think what other teams offer you is more based on your perceived weaknesses than if you're trying to rebuild. I've had the 2013 Astros keep getting offered 30-ish year old position players when no rebuilding team in their right mind would take them. Especially when they're overpaid. But, I had weaknesses all over the place so the AI was making offers.

I put my teams status to Rebuilding at the beginning of last season and this offseason I've received so many offers from the AI teams offering old scrubs for my mid 20's studs I've started deleting them instead of rejecting them just out of spite. I think they are expecting me to take the ridiculous offers just to dump payroll.

actually, i have started responding to these, since AI has now shown who they have interest in. what i find interesting also, is if you remove who they asked upfront, and press make this work, the offer is usually better.

I find it handy for letting me know which one of my prospects are the real deal. When everyone in the league wants your 25 yr old 3B there must be something to him. It does get rather annoying at times though because I pretty much go through my team right after the playoffs and dump every player I don't want to keep in one big binge. The trade offers make it a pain to simulate through the offseason after that though. I actually get a smile out of thinking my players cringe every time I go to the roster page. My nick name should be "The Axe". Last offseason I think I released all but 5 players in AAA-A ball.

i'm the opposite. i care about the minor leaguers more. i feel bad when after 8 years in the system, the OF i drafted to turn into a reliever stagnated in AA. i even gave him a call up to the majors and force the coach to use him.

(i then made him a pitching coach in rookie ball...)

You can set individual players as "untouchable" so that teams won't make you offers for them. And conversely, if the AI keeps offering you a specific player, you can set that player's status to "Not interested".
