Father / Son?
Is there a way in the game to tell for sure if a player is the son of a former player?
I named the Pitcher of the Year award after Justin Kane, who is now 53 and retired. He had a 14 year career with a 2.58 ERA. I suddenly noticed that my next game is against Justin Kane (not named Jr.), who is a 25 year old playing in his first full season. |

There used to be a way, at least.

Did facegen make them look alike? That'd be cool.

The game creates 0 relatives......
It's up to you to infer relationships. |

I have seen juniors in fictional league though. In one of my leagues there is Jason Barney Jr. and there was a Jason Barney.

In my EBL I have Homer Simpson and Bart Simpson. Granted I created both and Homer is based of of Griffey Sr while Bart is based off of Junior. They both play for the Isotopes. I had a player in my league named Keon Durham, i was convinced he was Leon Durhams son but could not find him on baseball ref.

What Questdog and The Game said - infer the relationship, create the players. That's one of the beauties of OOTP, customization.
I once had a fictional league that ran for a little over 200 seasons. My great granddaddy, my granddaddy, my daddy, me, my son, and my grandson all played in it. ![]() Two of us even made the HOF----not me though.

My father and I made the HOF for mine. My great granddaddy (Ray Schalk) My grandfather (Sherm Lollar) and my Uncle (Andy Benes) did not. I was a SP on steroids and my dad was Mickey Mantle.

I had Armando "Mastadon" Fernandez as a sort of jack-of-all-trades pitcher - you could put him in the rotation, long relief, middle relief, you name it and he'd do a great job - in my Mariners and Arrows dynasties for several years. When I saw a young pitcher in the minors named Armando Fernandez, I traded for him, and he was Son of Mastadon in my mind. Unfortunately, that was in the now-fried 1961-1989 seasons, so he never got a chance to get past Double A.

The league started in 2013, and as of December 2018, there are 4 "Jr." names in the league. One's a coach with no antecedent in the database. The other three: Roman Freisinger (a "respected veteran leader" 2B I took in the initial draft as a stopgap 2B who sucked, then had an All-Star season as soon as I traded him) begat Roman Freisinger, Jr. Petar Stolic begat Petar Stolic, Jr. Arie "Highlight Reel" Schuur (40, still active as an MR) begat Arie "Two Shoes" Schuur, Jr. (18) I think that's pretty clearly beyond random naming chance. (Interesting to see that the trait of having a colorful nickname may be inheritable.) Also interestingly, while the fathers hailed from several European countries (Freisinger was a Czech, for instance), the sons all hail from Slovenia - the country designated as the "home" of the League, even though the teams are in 16 different countries.
