Tiny display on high-resolution laptop

I recently bought a new Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro laptop with Windows 8.1, which features 3200x1800 resolution. I've accordingly struggled to find proper display settings for OOTP, as even with Maximum Text Size set, all the text and navigation buttons in the game are tiny. I tried scaling down the computer's resolution a few times, but no real luck there.

Has anyone had better luck getting OOTP to display properly on high-resolution screens or otherwise encountered a similar issue?

I have an Ideapad Y510 with 1920X1080 screen resolution and OOTP looks very sharp on it. However I don't think I could see properly if I had better resolution available. I'm no expert but there is a law of diminishing returns with respect to high resolution and screen size. My Lenovo is 15.5" and yours is 13.3" so by definition as you increase resolution everything gets smaller and you have less area to display. You may have to reduce the resolution until the size is workable. Have you tried 1600X900?

I actually bought the Lenovo because my 15" Toshiba at 1024X768 could not display enough OOTP for my liking. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thanks for weighing in, Rich. I did try reducing resolution, without much luck. Text is still very small and difficult to read. Other applications and programs have "scaled" well with high resolution (with notable exception of Chrome, which is working on an update that will be naturally compatible with this resolution. Firefox and IE both display fine.)

In any event, I'm using my 4-year-old ThinkPad for OOTP for the moment, at least until I'm able to find a solution on the Yoga 2 Pro.

Did you choose the resolution in OOTP as well as your display? Are you full screen or windowed?

Yes to both OOTP & display resolutions, though I haven't given full screen a shot, only windowed. Good call! Look forward to trying that out tonight.

Full screen might work.

I have a 2 year old Lenovo Thinkpad (resolution 1600 X 900), 14 inch screen: V13 looked great but I can't use V14 in fullscreen mode, I get the black screen issue even after all of the patches.

Full screen didn't help increase the font size, but believe it or not, switching skins to OOTP Dark was a marginal improvement.

Probably because it increased the contrast, making the text more legible even if the font size isn't bigger.

so what is happening is your game is trying to take say my 27inch HD display and show the exact same thing on a 13 inch display, so everything is now so small you need a microscope. it doesn't pick-up that it's a 13inch display and needs to be treated differently.

I have a related but not similar problem. I have my taskbar on the top of my screen, Microsoft products (& skpe) recognize that 0.0 is no longer the upper left corner but the left side just under the taskbar. so anytime I load ootp I have to move the taskbar to the bottom then back to the top to snap it into place properly.

fundamentally it is the same thing, either the OS isn't sharing the display information properly or the programs are not asking for it properly, if at all.

Ah, interesting. It doesn't seem like it'd be all that difficult a fix to put in place either.

It sounds like OOTP15 will be addressing this issue, with support for higher-resolution screens
